When should you service your BMW?
Your BMW indicates when servicing is due; our workshop also recommends avoiding excessively long oil change intervals.
Service indicator
Oil change, inspection or brake fluid due: the workshop carries out the work and resets the indicator.
Oil change every 10,000 km
At most: degraded oil offers less protection to the engine's internal components.
BMW M engines
Ideally every 7,000 km, given the thermal and mechanical stresses.
Brake fluid
Genuine DOT 4 fluid and a complete system bleed.
What a servicing package includes
Each package lists its parts and checks: you know what will be done before you book an appointment.
Engine oil change
LL-04 5W30 oil, Motul or genuine BMW depending on the package.
Filters
Oil filter for the oil change; oil, air, cabin and fuel filters for the inspection.
Checks
50 checks with the oil change; diagnostics and a general check with the inspection.
Reset
Service indicator reset at the end of the work.

BMW servicing need not be a surprise. Each servicing package displays its price incl. VAT and details what is included: oil, filters, checks and service indicator reset. Choose genuine BMW oil and filters or OEM equivalents from recognised brands, meeting the same LL-04 standard.
Specialising exclusively in BMW and MINI, our Ostwald workshop knows the intervals and checks for each engine, from 3 to 6 cylinders. If an inspection reveals wear or a fault, we let you know and provide a detailed quote: nothing is replaced without your agreement.
For BMW models with an automatic gearbox or xDrive, oil changes for the gearbox, transfer case and differentials complement engine servicing.

BMW oil service: how much does an oil change cost?
An oil change for a 3- or 4-cylinder engine using OEM equivalents costs €157 incl. VAT, including Motul LL-04 oil, oil filter, 50 checks and indicator reset.
What is the difference between an oil change and an inspection?
An oil change replaces the oil and oil filter. An inspection adds air, cabin and fuel filters, diagnostics and a general check; it costs from €225 incl. VAT for a 3- or 4-cylinder engine.
Genuine parts or OEM equivalents: which should I choose?
Both ranges follow BMW recommendations (LL-04 5W30 oil). OEM packages use BMW oil and filters; OEM equivalent packages use Motul oil and Mann, Mahle, Bosch or Valeo filters, at a lower price.
How often should the oil be changed?
We recommend an oil change at least every 10,000 km, ideally every 7,000 km on BMW M engines.
